An Organic Makati Experience with Legaspi Sunday Market
Another weekend, and there is no other way to close it and unwind but to visit Makati’s Legaspi Sunday Market. After attending my morning Mass at Greenbelt Chapel i thought of taking a walk then grab something for lunch, set along the corners of Legaspi St. and Rufino St. The Legaspi Sunday Market is actually near my office at C. Palanca St. most of the shoppers are residents of the Condos surrounding the place, residents of San Lorenzo Village and sometimes you’ll find local celebrities shopping too.
As you enter you will hear the beat of the drum by this guys who are using native musical instruments as if there is an ongoing festival. It gives a festive background.
While inside you will sense and smell the scent or aroma of different essential oils, while on the other side you will smell the sizzling flavors of Local grilled meats like Burgers, Chicken and BBQ’s. At Legaspi Sunday Market you can find Rattan Furniture, handmade rugs and blankets with plenty of variations to choose from.
Small Scale Entrepreneurs are here to showcase their product offerings, like this Lady whose products were Japanese Kimonos and Souvenirs, but their main brand is the Japanese sandals which known to provide a therapy for the whole physique as you wear it over time..
Legaspi Sunday Market Focuses on being organic, you will find fresh vegetables and some stalls are offering fresh Basil and Oregano Plants, for buyers to culture and different kind of Cactuses too.
Django offers pure recycled and customized leather crafts, like shoes, bags and other items.
On the same note, Siklo Pilipinas Manufacture Bags from used Bicycle tires..
As you walk around the Market it gives you a unique experience as if you have travelled around the world because you can find different Arts and Craft and international cuisines from Indonesian, Moroccan, Japanese, Filipino and many more.
I couldn’t wait to try some because walking around and taking photos makes me hungry, for appetizers I had something Japanese. Takoyaki (P60/5pcs.) Gyoza (P45/4pcs.) having this 2 light meals, is a good way to start my meal as it enhances my cravings for more food.
Then for lunch, I had something Indonesian by Warung Warung they have Nasi Goreng, Beef Rendang, Bakwan, Kari Ayam and many more, they offer this in 8 different Pakets ranging from P85 to P135 only, i had Nasi Goreng, Telur & Terong (Chili Eggplant & EGG), Bakwan and Jagung Perdekel..
Indonesian food were spicy so I grabbed something to drink, been craving to try this Fresh Ginger Ale (P200/bottle), made especially for the market, boiling Ginger with lemon and yeast. It’s like a healthy soda. Makes you feel good as it removes the flavors of your previous meal.
I’m not yet done. My organic experience wouldn’t be complete if I hadn’t try Down to Earths’ Grass fed Burger (P200), made out of 100% Grass fed Beef Meat, Fresh Ecodynamic Vegetables, and Wheat Bread. Their Burger, unlike the typical greasy and heavy burger this one is fairly light it doesn’t feel like a belly buster for me to think I had Indonesian Fried Rice prior to this. Talk about something Organic. It feels like your just eating vegetables top with wheat bread. I actually had to fall in line just to have one.
Visit Makati’s Legaspi Organic Market every Sunday Opens at 8 in the morning, mass are being held here too. Grab something fresh.
